Power hungry Merkel steals again from the opposition
Merkel is well know to have no position at all. She sits and waits how the mood of the country is; for the other political parties to position themselves; then she strikes. Examples of the past are 'nuclear power', original a Green Party program to aim for alternative energy. Guaranteed minimum income, an originally Social Democratic Party demand. Merkel has embraced most positions, be it liberal, social democratic or green; making the CDU party seemingly a party without alternative; a party that can form coalition with any other party to form a majority in parliament; yet always with Merkel has the head, or leader of the ruling government.
And here she stands again, ready to become the next chancellor of Germany, after the 2017 elections.
The AfD, the only alternative party in Germany, was also the only party with own ideas and demands. Suddenly this is about to change, as Merkel, wise as she is, now begins to cater to the voters of the AfD.
Out of the blue a promise: "A situation like in the summer of 2015, should and will not be repeated."
Merkel further spoke out against the Burka, or the full cover face veil. She said: "With us (hence in our country) it is: Show face, that's why the face veil is not acceptable, it has to be prohibited." The CDU now wants to prohibit the Burka, for example in court, at police check points or generally in traffic, hence when driving a car.
How come this sudden change? And is it really a change?
Its less than a year until Germany is going to the polling stations. Merkel knows that she wants to win, she wants to be the chancellor 'again' for the next 4 years. So she needs votes. She claims, the CDU is the party of the center, the center right, and she knows she needs to defeat the threat of a left left green coalition, that may form for the sake of toppling her. A recent agreement for the state of Berlin has been agreed upon already; so why not on country level?
She is seemingly having a strong stance; but important is to see what points she is not making.
Merkel once also promised that there will be no toll fee for private cars, yet now it is coming, under her regime. So making a point, does not really mean it will follow.
Merkel still remains silent about the borders, about setting a limit to the influx of "so called refugees"; she remains silent about the fake or true refugee debate, and instead of talking about how to return the Islamic tsunami to their home countries as soon as possible, she talks about integration and how to make Germany their home.
We may question why Merkel takes over AfD demands, whist treating the AfD basically as not democratic and extreme.
This is how dirty Merkels politics are.
She wants to stay in power, embrace all movements and political streams, just to remain without alternative. Merkel does this silently and unspectacular, even within her own rows, where she has no succeeder, no opposition that is strong enough to dethrone her. As a former citizen of the GDR she knows how a 'block party' and government works.
Her aim is to be seen as the saviour of the country, by opening the borders, to show a humane face, and to paint Germany as a do-Gooder country, that is in historical debt, and that is now paying for it. She is using the surrounding countries, that are closing borders and not agreeing with her politics, to reduce the influx of 'so called refugees', and then later receive the praise of having helped and being able to say that less or nobody is coming anyway any more. All chancellor Merkel does, is not because she really 'did it', but because she observed and waited for the moment to place herself under the right light, harvest the applause and make results look like they were a result of her politics.
Seemingly Germany is really without alternative, because if not voting for Merkel and her CDU, the leftist coalition would not be better, as also they want more Muslims in, no regulation of religious influence and symbols, and make Germany unrecognisable one day.
The German people are not as revolutionary as the French, not as carefree as the Dutch, and not as nationally proud as the Hungarians. German people are generally not so politically interested, brainwashed into a do-Gooder mentality, and brought up with a subtle feeling of guilt, because of a past their own grandparents had no say in even. Labels are easily set in Germany: Left is good and right is bad. Because the right is portrayed as naziism or neo-naziism; and this is nonsense, as the party NPD, that one can really identify with that ideology, forms just 2% of the votes, and is irrelevant and not even with a slight chance to enter any house of parliament. It is even safe to say, that other countries, like the US have more so called Nazi or fascist groups of followers.
The protection of borders, preservation of national identity and culture, the aim for freedom, and putting the citizens needs first, are all non fascist demands, things that many other countries also practice without being called 'far-right'.
AfD Vice Alexander Gauland has found points in the CDU election program that were clearly taken from the program of the AfD. For example: Faster deportations and refugee camps in North Africa ie. There is no real change of direction, Mr. Gauland stated. "Merkel does what she wants." Also the move to make the face veil / Burka illegal is an originally AfD demand.
All AfD demands were called "non Christian" by protestant Angela Merkel before. What about now? Merkel is a power hungry politician, that's the answer.
Latest news reveals that the CDU wants to review dual citizenship. Sounds like AfD right? What a hypocrite lot that party CDU is.
Germany has an alternative, and that is the AfD. If Germans don't make use of democracy, and that is to vote, and also to vote for change; and change is what makes democracy stay alive, then Merkel may really succeed in changing democracy into a mockery.
