Bugso - Blast
It was 12 noon on Sunday the 8th of January 2017, as under a pleasant sunshine, light winds frequently blowing away the fallen leaves from the trees, decorating the side of Russet Street in Marikina, something the road had never witnessed before would occur.
The lgbtBUS office was chosen as a venue for a movie shooting, together with its lead officers allowed to be part of the last set of its make. 'Bugso', the title of the upcoming movie is, in a nutshell, about three main characters dealing with HIV. In the part lgbtBUS was involved, a straight man, who is part of a motorcycle club, dealing with his HIV infection. This movie is more than just a film; it is a message, a breaking with stigma and discrimination; an advocacy and a mixture of yet imaginary figures with reality.
Movie Director Ace Rocha was leading the day and it was an honour to meet with Vandolph, son of the diseased King of Comedy Dolphy, who played another significant role in the movie.
The end of the day was the crown for lgbtBUS officers Regie Pasion and Thomas Fleckner, who were set to play the part, where the motorcycle group and specially main figure "Harry" was attending a group discussion about HIV AIDS inside the lgbtBUS office, to receive advise, support and have the groups questions answered. It was a successful combination of Tagalog and English, enabling the reach across borders, portraying the national but also international significance of the epidemic.
The Premier of 'Bugso' will be in February, where the lgbtBUS lead will be able to meet with the other actors involved, such as Kristofer King. A press conference is also yet to be announced.
It is of high importance to finally mention Sunny Garcia, a Filipino artist, Kristofer Kings dad and lgbtBUS count-apart, who played a great part in the chain of elevating lgbtBUS into its participation. Kristofer King also plays a role in this movie, and we will keep it a surprise what role that is.
